Hold Me Accountable
Accountability Partner or Partners
During the 2020 Quarantine, I didn't want to waste precious time that I had been begging for to work on personal growth and home projects. It was important for me to have something to show for this unexpected time at home. I looked to friends and family to help push me. I quick reminder to keep pushing was sometimes all I needed, other times, a face-time call for me to prove I was working was what I needed. I realized not only was I in need of an accountability partner, but others needed me to help keep them accountable as well. It could be a home decorating project, achieving a certification, fitness goals, etc.
My accountability partners come in many forms. Each version will be different for what is needed in your life. I pick partners who have similar goals as me. I also pick partners who have reached the level that I strive to reach. Be willing to push each other. It is important to be Respectful and Honest.
Group Accountability: One version for me was having my very select Marco Polo Group of Unconventional Siblings (Long Story). each day we checked on each other and provided feedback and advice. At this point, my brain started to wander with ideas. Having many ideas floating in your head can be frustrated.
One on One Accountability: Each week I have a scheduled ZOOM meeting scheduled with my cousin. We write an agenda shared on google docs and just work (oh yeah and gossip a little too). Most importantly, we push each other to meet goals.

Before and After Partner: One of my best friends and I set goals for home projects by sending before pictures and trying to set deadlines. We remind each other to keep working and give advice on how to complete the task. When we complete the task, we send the After picture and the only reward we need is a cute GIF text or $1 drink at Applebees.

Techy Accountability: Sometimes finding the perfect app will help keep you accountable.
- Fitness Apps
- Meal Plan Apps
- Mind mapping Apps
- Calendar Apps
- Etc
With your accountability partners, set a reward system. How will you reward yourself for meeting a goal or checking off something big from your checklist? Below are some ways I reward myself. Rewards do not have to be expensive or time consuming.
- A desert 🎂
- Drinks with friends
- Retail Therapy
- Online Shopping
- Call someone to BRAG (or let them BRAG on you)
- Take a nap
- Watch a good movie
- Have a dance party
- etc.
