Teachable Theme: My Hair is Different, My Hair is Beautiful

Teachable Theme:

My Hair is Different, My Hair is Beautiful

I know so many children that wish they had different hair. Its time that we teach our children that they/we all have different hair. Being able to change you hair style, color, shape, and texture makes having "different" hair FUN! Growing up, I wanted a relaxer so that I could have long straight hair, I never wore my hair natural (unless it was a 70's themed party). I started to put these same thoughts in my daughters head at a young age, but realized this was not healthy. I started to teach her that she was created with think, kinky, natural, beautiful hair. She now embraces her hair with many styles, colors, and protective style options. She keeps her hair healthy and creates a new VIBE weekly. As an adult, I am just learning how to address my beautiful AND natural hair.

Happy Hair by Mechal Renee Roe

I am learning new home hair conditioning treatments as well as learning how to manage my hair in its most difficult stages. It's not always easy... ask my BESTIES (I just sent them a text about giving up and getting a relaxer).

What I include in my DIY Home Hair (Pre-Wash) Recipe
( I do not know measurements, and I am definelty not a hair specialist... this is just what I use.)
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Water
  • Coconut Oil
  • Castor Oil
  • Shea Butter
Healthy Hair is not only for GIRLS...

It is very important for BOYS to know they have beautiful hair too. I have seen the same creativity with styles, colors, and shapes with boys as I have seen with girls. The sky is the limit with HAIR!

I am still on this hair journey, and with all of the good hair days and bad hair days, I know that my hair is different, my hair is beautiful. Leave comments on HAIR below.
