Purpose of the APP
This APP has multiple purposes. My main purpose for using Classroom DOJO is for parental communication.
- Class Story- You can use this feature as a way to communicate with the students and parents as a group. I send pictures of class activities, newsletters, assignments, and upcoming events.
- Behavior Management- Each student is given an avatar. The students are able to earn points for positive classroom rules (there is a negative feature too, but I do not use that feature).
- If you share a classroom (co-teacher, paraprofessional, etc), you can share Class DOJO to get additional feedback.
- I do not use the negative feature, but I can directly message a parent for personal messages that are not meant for the class story. I can also receive messages from parents.
- Data Collection- An easy to read graph is provided on points the students are earning (or not earning).
- NEW- Student Portfolio: I have not used this feature, but I think it is a great addition. Students can send you drawings, pictures of their work, and other digital options to show mastery of learning concepts. I see this as a way for students to track their learning with their teacher.
- Translation Options for parents.
- Groups- you can give points to groups to build classroom community
Top 3 Pros
- Class Story Feature
- Instant Parental Communication
- Cute Student Avatars
Top 3 Cons:
- Negative Feature- the visual of red meaning bad is hard to recover from for many students and does not promote a positive learning environment.
- Ok... so I like the app.
